Traffic Building From A Different Perspective

Monday, March 15th, 2010

Too many newcomers to internet marketing fall for the promises of big returns that so many affiliate programs dangle in front of them. These schemes rarely work, for a variety of reasons. If your budget is limited, you’re going to have to take a fresh approach if you want to make money online. If you follow others, you’ll always be bringing up the rear!

That’s not to say that some internet marketers don’t make tens of thousands of dollars per month. Some were lucky enough to have gotten in early. They put in the effort needed to get to the number one spot on the search engines. Once there, the good ones continued to invest a healthy share of their profits to make sure they stayed number one. They aren’t going to give that up easily.

Do you really think you can compete in a niche against affiliate marketers whose monthly spending budget is in the tens of thousands of dollars? Sure, you can subscribe to an article submission service and get your content out there, but so can they and they can do it better because they can afford to.

You’re like a villager who is facing attack from a huge, well-equipped army. You don’t have a chance if you face them on their own turf. Guerilla warriors win by using whatever they have at their disposal and fighting from the sidelines, not the battle front. Use guerilla tactics to generate targeted traffic.

What’s at your immediate disposal? What do you have that they don’t that you can use to get a share of the money that’s to be made online? Think of anything, including the scrapbook album you and your kids made from scratch.

As laughable as that may sound, it could be your golden calf! People all over the world love making scrapbooks. If you’re good at it and love it, why not share you knowledge and passion with others through an e-book. Find sources for handmade paper and sell that and other supplies online. You have a niche the big guns don’t even know about now.

Now look around and see what else you have in your ‘arsenal.’ What about that alpine skiing equipment? You and your family love to ski cross country. Take a working holiday and record your adventures. Then, when you get home, record your family filling in a scrapbook with pictures from your trip. Post it online and invite your mailing list to join in the fun. They’ll love it and you’re bound to get more traffic!

Don’t even try to go head to head against the big guns online. You, like the vast majority of affiliate marketers will just be left in their dust. Find your own niche, one that they don’t even care about. If you’re sharing something you really love, your enthusiasm will show. That, combined with the traffic generating tools that are available online will be your ticket to success.

A Fresh Look At Traffic Building Techniques

Too many newcomers to internet marketing fall for the promises of big returns that so many affiliate programs dangle in front of them. These schemes rarely work, for a variety of reasons. Do you really think you can compete in a niche against affiliate marketers whose monthly spending budget is in the tens of thousands of dollars? Sure, you can subscribe to an article submission service and get your content out there, but so can they and they can do it better because they can afford to.

You don’t need to roll over and die, though. Small militia’s faced with an overwhelming armed force use guerilla tactics and so can you. They may have very few resources, but they use what they have and, if they’re persistent, they win the war.

What’s at your immediate disposal? What do you have that they don’t that you can use to get a share of the money that’s to be made online? Think of anything, including the scrapbook album you and your kids made from scratch.

That sounds absurd, doesn’t it? What could that humble scrapbook have to do with earning money? Worldwide, probably millions of people love scrapbooking. You could very cheaply write an e-book manual about it and get sources for hand-made paper and other book making supplies. Sell your book and supplies online to your targeted niche. Your enthusiasm alone will help to sell your products.

You’re going to have to do more than just have stuff to sell, though. You’re going to have to do something unique to generate traffic. What else about you makes you unique? Take another look around. Consider that alpine skiing equipment in the garage for a moment. You and your family could take it and go on a weekend cross country ski trip. Take snapshots along the way. When you get home, make a start to finish scrapbook and videotape the whole process. Post the video online and share it with others.

People are getting sick of the constant hype that most affiliate marketers use to sell products. The truth is, about one percent of them make any money. Small niche businesses run by real enthusiasts, though, can generate an income. If you use the traffic generating skills you’ve learned and combine them with your genuine interests, you could have a real winner on your hands!
